How to practically remove a virus from a usb flash drive

Hello guys I'm back and today I will teach you how to practically remove a virus and restoring your data from a usb flash drive to its original form. First of all I got the idea of this post from my older sister. My sister always ask me to remove the virus from her usb flash drive not because she don't know how to scan her flash drive using an antivirus software but because of the changes that those virus made to it.

Base on my experience most virus try to auto run itself after you plug-in your usb flash drive to a computer usb port. Also it tries to hide your files from your flash drive. Some viruses also add some files that when open by user will destroy your computer. So now that you have some basic knowledge about computer virus behaviour we will now make a solution for it.

Requirements:
  1. An antivirus software that have a real time shield. For example Avast, the free version is already sufficient. Also make sure to update its virus definition.
Procedure:
  1. First plug-in your infected usb flash drive to your computer and make sure not to open it. Also in Windows sometimes a dialog appears after you plug-in the flash drive. Make sure to cancel it by choosing the cancel button.
  2.  Next, go to My Computer and right click your usb flash drive and then select scan. Then remove the viruses that the antivirus found or just move it chest.
  3. Now open the run dialog by pressing Windows Logo + R.
  4. On the textbox type cmd and press ENTER key.
    run dialog
  5. Now on the command prompt type cd /d <flash drive letter> and then press ENTER key. Make sure to replace the <flash drive letter> with the letter of your flash drive. For example if your flash drive is lettered as F: in My computer then the command will be cd /d f:
    cmd change directory
  6.  After that, type attrib /s /d -s -h and then press ENTER key.
  7. After that, type del /f /s /q *.lnk and then press ENTER key.
    cmd delete shortcut
  8. Lastly, type del /f *.inf and then press ENTER key.
    cmd delete autorun.inf
Now if everything goes right then you can now open your usb flash drive in My Computer.
